Our Sacral Chakra is responsible for sexuality, relationships, joy, pleasure, emotions, and creativity. To learn more about this chakra, check out my previous post that goes into further detail. This article will give you 7 Yoga poses to help you align your Sacral Chakra.
1. Goddess Pose
Stand sideways on your mat, feet wide and parallel to each other. Flare the toes out and bend your knees to 90 degrees. Aim for knees directly over ankles and continue to press knees open. Hands can be at prayer, extended out to the side, or bent to 90 degrees as cactus arms.
2. Bound Angle Pose
Start seated with sole of feet together. Bring heels as close to hips as possible. Inhale, lengthen spine up, then exhale, grab under feet, and fold forward over toes. Pull face as toward toes.
3. Forward Fold
Start seated with legs extended out in front of you. Sit up tall with hands extended down at sides. Inhale to lift arms up, exhale to reach out and grab toes, making sure to fold through your hips and not your spine. Grab shins, ankles, or toes and pull face towards shins.
4. Triangle Pose
Start from Warrior 2. Straighten front leg. Reach out over front leg and bring hand to shin, ankle, or to the mat on inside of foot. Lengthen spine out and open top arm to sky. Can lift an inch off the mat and hold for added strength building.
5. Crescent Pose
Start from a running lunge. Inhale to lift chest and arms up, palms facing each other. Front knee is at 90 degrees, as best you can. Back leg is straight, or as best you can. Hips are square and abs are engaged.
6. Wide Legged Forward Fold
Start seated, turned sideways on mat. Open legs to meet your own edge. Inhale to lengthen spine, exhale to fold forward through the hips, not the spine.
7. Reclined Thunderbolt Pose
Start in kneeling, sitting on your ankles. Walk your hands back until you are laying fully on your back, or anywhere in between. Extend arms over your head.
