7 Yoga Poses to Align your Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)

Our Third Eye Chakra is responsible for intuition, imagination, lucidity and astral projection. To learn more about this chakra, check out my previous post that goes into further detail. This article will give you 7 Yoga poses to help you align your Third Eye Chakra.

1. Thunderbolt Pose

From your knees, sit back onto your feet, toes pointed back. Lengthen your spine as if something is pulling you up from the crown of your head. Hands rest on your lap, palms face up, open to what the Universe has to offer.

2. Forward Fold

Start in Mountain pose. Inhale to lift both arms up, exhale to fold forward. Make sure you bend through the hips and not through the spine. Grab backs of ankles or calves and pull face towards shins.

3. Dolphin Pose

Start in Downward Dog pose. Come down to elbows and plant your palms so your arms are parallel. Work towards straight lines from elbows to hips and hips to ankles.

4. Head to Knee Pose

Start seated with legs extended out in front of you. Bend one knee and bring the sole of the foot to the inner thigh of the extended leg. Sit up tall to lengthen spine. Inhale to lift arms up, exhale to fold over leg. Grab onto shin, ankle, or toes and pull your face toward you shin.

5. Lotus Pose

Start sitting cross legged. You can stay here, or bring one foot into the opposite hip crease, or bring both feet into the opposite hip creases. DO NOT push past your edge as this can damage your knees.

6. Cow Face Pose

Start in table top position. Bring one knee to the center of the mat and cross the other knee directly behind it, or as close as you can. Sit back onto your mat or a block. Cross arms with the bottom arm being the same side as the top leg. Ex: right arm under and right leg on top. Continue wrapping arms around until your palms come together, or as close as you can.

7. Extended Child's Pose

Start in table top position. Bring your big toes to touch. You can keep your knees together or take them as wide as your mat. Sit back over your heels, arms extend out to straight and bring your forehead to the mat.
