I had the pleasure of working with a new breeder in a location about 2 hours from where I live. It was a Private Puppy Yoga With Mikenze for a Bachelorette Party, who reached out early in the year for a September class. The ladies were VERY excited to find out that it was with dachshunds, even if it was a little litter of 5. It's important to note that we were lucky to have that many puppies as they usually have smaller litters.

Dachshunds, lovingly known as wiener dogs or sausage dogs, may be small in size but they are full of personality. Originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers, these pups are curious, brave, and surprisingly bold while being incredibly loyal and happiest when they are close to their people soaking up cuddles and attention. They come in three coat types including smooth, long-haired, and wire-haired, and can be standard or miniature in size. Playful, intelligent, and a little stubborn in the most endearing way, Dachshunds respond best to positive reinforcement training. Because of their long backs, gentle movement, mindful play, and avoiding excessive jumping are important, and with the right care they bring endless joy, laughter, and love into a home as truly unforgettable little companions.

Day 1 Pup-mas Activity With YOUR Pup: Create a Pup-Friendly Holiday Space

Start by setting up a cozy, festive area just for your dog. This space can include a soft bed, some holiday-themed toys, and a few treats. Make sure it’s away from loud noises like fireworks or crowded gatherings to keep your pup calm.

• Use dog-safe decorations like plush toys shaped like snowflakes or bones.

• Add a blanket with your dog’s favorite scent for extra comfort.
