After just 6 months of Puppy Yoga in 2024 alone, I ran 18 public classes and 7 private classes. I worked with 10 different dog breeds in 4 different towns/cities and had over 300 students out, some being repeat customers. This blows my mind and makes me so so grateful for the blessing of Puppy Yoga in my life!
July kicked off with 6 Golden Retriever public classes that were all full. These classes were special because we had 27 puppies! The breeder (Marr Golden Retrievers) had 3 litters at once, and holy moly was it a wild time! Luckily they took shifts napping and being playful, so it wasn't a mob of 27 puppies biting our toes all at the same time. These classes were filled with laughter and puppy kisses and left people feeling happy and calm. One thing that I love about Puppy Yoga is that it keeps people focused on the moment, and nothing else. We are all watching the adorable balls of fur and protecting our hair instead of thinking about our lives. Puppy Yoga is a form of therapy in every sense of the word.
In the middle of the 6 classes with the Golden Retrievers of Marr Golden Retrievers, I had 2 private classes with a second litter of Labrador Retrievers from Black Rose Kennels. These classes were held at 2 different STA's in Prince Edward County, and each one had a beautiful outdoor space to host us. At the second class, these puppies got to have a new experience in the lake, and the participants got to help teach them how to swim. It was a very special moment for this group of friends and their bestie soon-to-be bride. A Private Puppy Yoga is a sure way to create lasting memories together before your big day. Bachelorettes are guaranteed to leave Puppy Yoga feeling excited for the rest of their celebrations.
Later in July I was able to find a litter of Italian Daniffs (Cane Corse x Great Dane), and I was unprepared for how cute they would be! They were so sweet and playful that I decided to have a last minute public class at Corby Hall (which turned out to be the last class there). These puppies are a cross between two very large breed dogs which means they were almost doubling in size every time I saw them again. We ran these classes a little different, utilizing their leashes to avoid having to chase puppies in the wooded areas or rescue them out of the rushing river. It worked out well and each participant got a puppy to cuddle and received lots of puppy love.
In August I had the incredible opportunity to bring Puppy Yoga to the Quinte West Pop Ups in Trenton. What I thought would be classes with Golden Mountain Doodles worked out to be classes with Toy Poodles, and wow were they energetic, playful and adorable! I truly believe everything works out the way it was meant to, and this was no exception. They were so small but they were mighty energetically. Both private classes enjoyed their experience with them, and the public class at the Pop Ups was an absolute blast. Although we couldn't let the puppies touch the grass in the park, we brought in 5 other 4 month old puppies and also allowed people to hold the Toy Poodles during the class. It was perfect, and there were many members of the public who got to see what Puppy Yoga was all about. We also handed out some goody bags which included my new service cards as well as samples from Ren's Pets in Belleville, Ontario. I will be working with Ren's to create some amazing new opportunities moving forward. Stay tuned for that..
September offered a much needed break for me after the work I put in this summer, and in early October I will have 2 classes with the Golden Retrievers of Todd Family Goldens. After a full year of Puppy Yoga, I have learned SO much about puppies and dogs and have been lucky enough to cuddle with many different breeds. I knew Puppy Yoga would be fun and successful, but I didn't realize how amazing it would be to work with these different breeders/ owners and the relationships I would build with some of my regular Puppy Yoga students. I am so blessed and I have so much love and gratitude for each and every one of you! Thank you for being on this journey with me, and I look forward to our next class together! Namaste my Yogis <3
